I was surprised about Samsung’s R7 series because of one reason: here is at last a TV with plenty to offer visually. It has a special design compared with other TVs! Usually when we watch TV, we pay attention what is going on the screen. Of course, there is also no reason to do something else. However, we scarcely recognize the machine it self.

Samsung’s R7 series LCD-HDTV leaps immediately to the eye. That is certainly because of its design. Samsung speaks in this context also about "emotional design". What is actually "emotional design?" This is design being able to inspire emotions in us. And how? Of course, if we are able to associate something with it.

The R7 series was modelled on a wine glass. You can see it in the best way on the white LCD TV having a red bend under the screen. I think, the idea of an almost blank wine glass is obvious.

The question is, why did they actually take a wine glass as an example. Why shall we have at best this association? I think, because with wine or rather with a wine glass we associate emotions like cosiness, relaxation, but also contentment. These are very agreeable emotions. In this context, the design would like to communicate these feelings. It is about an agreeable atmosphere. Samsung is so not only interested in functionality and having the best technology but also being able to insert design in our lives. Personally, I like this idea.
