Day in the Life
http://www.samsungexhibition.com/post/Jonathan/0000323
We usually wake up around 8:30.  Chris and I share a room with a top bunk and a bottom bunk.  I've not slept on a bunk since college.  We have an informal rule:  who ever is on the bottom bunk showers first.  Actually, our bed isn't a bunk-bed so much as a full-size bed for the parents, and a twin bed lofted above for the children.  So, due to the difficulty in getting up and down from this kid bunk, the one on top is afforded a few extra winks.

On the days I sleep on the top bunk, I turn on CNN so the hottest news makes sure I don't fall back to sleep.  No matter who showers first, Chris always beats me to breakfast.  It's simple and light, but the hotel breakfast gets the job done nicely.  On a counter you can fill your plate with a variety of breads, spreads, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, and WASA crackers.  Over the course of my stay, I refined my breakfast from a carb feast of crackers, jam, rolls and cereal down to a simple and nutritious hard-boiled egg, roll with cream cheese and a slice of muenster, and gallon of orange juice.

Bert drives us to CeBIT, and (except for the hollering gorilla incident) disobeys all parking personnel to get to his favorite parking spot on the grass lot in from of the garage.  We enter through "Eingang Nord 4" and scan our CeBIT passes.  Like every good trade fair we are bombarded by newsies forcing "CeBIT news" upon us.  It's in German so I politely refuse except for the last day just to cheer up the woman handing them out.  Though I think the detects my forced benevolence.

As we walk to our office just down the hall from the booth, I try to keep track of our path, since the way back is a nightly game of "no-I'm-sure-it's-this-way" won by whoever is most sure of where they're going.

The office isn't much, but it's all we need.  We share it with the graphic artists in charge of making the signage and diagrams throughout the booth.  The first few days are chaotic as they are still cranking out signs, leaving us very little space for work.  At least the place has a window.

Most of the day I am running around, researching a product.  Bert takes photos and Chris does his video work.  Around 1pm we'll go down to the basement and have lunch in the cafeteria, a tiny room used as an impromptu kitchen and dining hall which probably should seat no more than ten, but thirty staffers typically pack the place until we spill over into the women's dressing room next door, being used as an impromptu tech center.

Then we head up to the Mezzanine overlooking the booth for some coffee.  We always sit in the same place, overlooking the SCX printers (there's a cute redhead there, I'm sure that's why).

We all order drinks, espresso, cappuccino, coffee, and Coke.  We're also brought a plate of cookies and candy bars, which we lovingly dubbed "Samsung Food."

The rest of the day is spent writing until it's time to head back to the hotel.  Despite my best efforts, I apparently don't know how to get back to the car (so says Chris).  But we make it home.  There's a Burger King next to the hotel, where I've ordered nearly everything on the menu.  Once I tried to order in German, and instead of a number 2 with fries and a water, I got two cups of water and an order of potato wedges.  So there you have it... the day in the life of a Samsung blogger.
