I close my eyes and I can still picture the fluorescent logos hanging from the ceiling, people walking around with Nathan’s hotdogs and fries or busybodies scattered around on the carpet floor with their laptops and the constant comments of visitors going around the different booths.
It was one heck of an exhibition and a genuinely memorable first experience. While there were booths with products you’d think would be better not displayed, a few aesthetically set up booths helped the exhibition center shine. Starting from the entrance I could see the huge illuminating logo of Samsung flashing away from the centre of the exhibition hall. As an unbiased and truthful opinion (with my hand on the Bible), I have to admit that Samsung’s booth this year was simply exceptional. And I think the majority will agree with me on this one…I eavesdropped constant comments of recognition and amazement. People were awed by some of the high tech objects that were displayed.
The products displayed by the different companies at the CES were uncountable. Samsung alone had approximately 400 products in display. With limited amount of time in hand, I was only able to skim through the maze of booths. Some of the products were truly ingenious and unthinkable by the normal mind.
Makes me wonder how we ever lived without all these high tech gadgets. It seems like advanced technology and its continuing progression is an obvious matter of life that people take for granted these days. Technology has conquered our way of living. People panic when they accidentally leave their cell phones at home or get extremely distressed when the internet does not work. Somehow, it has deeply integrated with our daily lives, habits, interests, personal and official affairs.
It’s quite an interesting thought. Technology is in fact man’s creation. And it’s amazing to see how the things we create have such a strong influence on our own lives. Majority of the urban population today will agree that without their computers and mobile phones, life would not circulate normally. Everything that we do is somehow manipulated by some kind of technology.
I have to agree to that too. My life pretty much revolves around the use of different kinds of technology. Whether it’s for personal or corporate matters, the integration of technology and my life is inevitable. Work wise, of course since laptop and the internet are the main sources of life to our business. And with my personal life, without a doubt as well because my hobbies and interests require the help of technology - listening to music, watching movies, online gaming, etc.
It’s a convenient evolution of lifestyle. Back in the days, most things were done manually (for example, laundry; dish washing; and even writing). However, people continue to think of ways to make life easier. That’s how I see it. Technology constantly improves to bring greater convenience to consumers. And I thank the great minds most of the time for creating such necessary gadgets, but sometimes wonder how much further this can go.
How much further can the human mind think and how much more can we progress? Is the advancement of technology really limitless? I have this small worry in the back of my head that someday, what we created for our own good will in the end cause greater inconvenience.
And with this, I end my final blog.
For those who read along ‘til the end, I extend my appreciation.
Have an unregretful 2007 and live everyday like it’s your last day (which means, don’t waste a single moment of your life!)
